The B30 area has a series of equipment and companies that give it extraordinary potential. The Alba Synchrotron light laboratory stands out, one of the most advanced research equipment in the world and which is creating around it a scientific, technological and business platform on a European scale with high added value, linked to the most dynamic sectors of the economy world.
The B30 area also houses the Autonomous University of Barcelona, a Campus of International Excellence; with its UAB Research Park, with 50 research centers and institutes and more than 4,000 researchers. The Polytechnic University of Catalonia and the Higher Technical School of Architecture, Esade, the International University of Catalonia or the ESDi in Sabadell complement a notable university offer.
Very close to these facilities is the Vallès Technology Park, with 150 companies installed and where 2,910 people work, and the Eurecat and Leitat technology centers. In addition to sixty research centers that are located, for the most part, on university campuses or in science and technology parks.
The large number of companies linked to innovation distributed among the 23 municipalities located around the B-30, which add up to more than 6,579 ha. of industrial land in 195 polygons of economic activity.
Also strategic is the existence in this space of the Intermodal Merchandise Center (CIM), one of the four in Catalonia, as equipment to promote efficiency in the distribution of goods in the main centers of economic activity.
Furthermore, the existence of relevant facilities such as the Public Security Institute of Catalonia or the Circuit of Catalonia cannot be underestimated, without forgetting the relevant hotel and commercial offer and fair facilities such as the Sabadell Fair and the Terrassa Fair, the Congresses and Conventions Center of the UAB, the Sant Cugat Auditorium or the Granollers Fairgrounds, among many others.
All these elements are also found in municipalities with a good quality of life, which have a network of educational, leisure, cultural, sports and health services and facilities. Nor can we forget the important value of its natural spaces, some with direct implications for research, such as the Gallegos area of natural interest.
